The Prague Summer Theatre School
Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts
June 3rd to June 21st 2013
Studying and Making Theatre in Prague
The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU) is pleased to announce its fourth annual summer theatre school. Courses are in English and will take place at DAMU, located in the heart of Prague’s historical center.
The Prague Summer Theatre School (PSTS) provides theatre students and practitioners with a diverse, hands-on immersion in the principles and practices of authorial performance, mask making & performance, nonverbal comedy theatre, puppetry, set design, and site-specific theatre.
The PSTS is rooted in the Czech Republic’s long history of puppet and object theatre, innovative set design and its unique contributions to small-forms and authorial theatre since the 1950s.
Experience the Theatre Academy in English
The PSTS is an excellent way for non-Czech speaking students to acquaint themselves with DAMU, especially for those who may be interested in applying to its Erasmus program and/or the M.A. programs in English. University students interested in obtaining credit for the coursework may do so. The PSTS can also benefit professionals who are looking to diversify their practice. Access to the school’s theatrical and technical facilities (theatre and rehearsal spaces, internet) is included.
A Diverse and Expanded program
This year’s PSTS features eight three-week courses. PSTS students will also attend performances with DAMU staff at local venues in order to experience Prague’s theatre scene. Please see the Course Descriptions link on the left for more information.
