STUDENT AMBASSADORS AND FEEDBACK

A student panel that actively contributes to improving the quality of teaching and the overall operations of the faculty by collecting student feedback.

Organizational structure

The DAMU Student Ambassadors consist of 11 members from 7 departments:

  • Richard Janča, Soňa Linhartová (KALD),
  • Marta Levínská, Rút Charvátová (KATaP),
  • Ladislav Pokorný, Petr Vrla (KČD),
  • Jakub Kříž (KP),
  • Daniel Dudek (KTK),
  • Jolana Prášková (KS),
  • Bořivoj Putna (KVD),
  • Diba Beihaghi (English study programmes)

The secretary of the Student Ambassadors is Tereza Škorpilová (tereza.skorpilova@damu.cz), Faculty Quality Methodologist

What is the aim of the Student Ambassador initiative?

  • to create a functional student panel that actively participates in improving the quality of teaching and the overall functioning of the faculty
  • to connect existing initiatives and platforms for collecting student feedback – departmental evaluations, the Student Quality Council (STRK), student representatives in the DAMU Academic Senate (AS DAMU) and the DAMU Internal Evaluation Commission (KVH DAMU)
  • to provide a safe space within individual departments for students to share feedback and suggestions

Who is a Student Ambassador and what do they do?

  • 1 or 2 representatives per department, elected by the student body[1]
  • acts as a communication intermediary between students and the faculty leadership
  • collects and presents feedback on the fulfilment of study programmes, the organization of teaching, and the functioning of the department and faculty[2]; submits this feedback in written form at least once per academic year to the Quality Methodologist and the Vice-Dean for Studies and Quality
  • is familiar with the structure of the institution, can direct students to the appropriate bodies, and connects the student community with student representatives in other bodies (AS DAMU, KVH DAMU)
  • brings forward suggestions for the Student Quality Council (STRK) and, through coordinators Eliška Přichystalová and Tereza Zlochová, convenes individual meetings

What are the responsibilities of a Student Ambassador?

  • to collect student feedback on teaching, departmental and faculty operations once per academic year
  • to summarize this feedback in writing and submit it to the Quality Methodologist and the Vice-Dean for Studies and Quality, who may subsequently provide it to the DAMU Internal Evaluation Commission (the academic body responsible for evaluation processes at the faculty)
  • to meet at least twice a year with the Quality Methodologist and the Vice-Dean for Studies and Quality (and possibly also with the Internal Evaluation Commission, faculty leadership, or other bodies)
  • to recommend topics, areas, and tools for collecting student feedback
  • to actively and regularly participate in meetings with other ambassadors, with the Vice-Dean for Studies and Quality, and in convened STRK meetings

Student Ambassadors have the right to:

  • fully decide how the collected feedback will be handled
  • discuss collected suggestions with department and faculty leadership as a priority
  • receive a scholarship for their work (from the Dean’s Office budget)
  • resign from their position at any time

What a Student Ambassador does not do, and is not required to do:

  • does not actively resolve collected issues, but only passes information on to the relevant persons, bodies etc.
  • is not obliged to submit feedback to heads of departments or study programme guarantors
  • does not perform administrative tasks belonging to the department secretariat or study office
  • does not collect feedback from DAMU teachers or staff
  • does not serve as a contact person for prospective students

[1] nominations and elections are conducted through faculty-wide distributed questionnaires, and each student has the right to use their one vote to elect a representative for their department; in exceptional situations, the election may take place solely within the circle of ambassadors, where ambassadors themselves elect their successors or colleagues

[2] feedback is collected with the consent of the respondents and is anonymized
