RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

The use of artificial intelligence for the development and assignment of both term papers and term or final papers is possible in the context of study if it is used solely as a tool for exploring and learning about a given topic or related issue. As AI is a technology that is sensitive to its users, it should be treated with awareness of its specificities and limitations.

Students are obliged to work with artificial intelligence within the framework of the already existing rules of academic integrity and with respect to the Rector's Decree 2/2023 (Rules for the creation and uniform editing of written parts of bachelor's, diploma and dissertation theses at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) which states that "The student is obliged to create a qualifying thesis personally, honestly and in compliance with the rules set by AMU and the faculty, especially the rules of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He/she shall strictly avoid any form of plagiarism, including the reuse of his/her own previous work without proper citation including authorship (self-plagiarism) or any form of writing a qualification thesis on demand (contract cheating). Such actions may be considered a disciplinary offense or a violation of the AMU Code of Ethics."

This means that a student must first and foremost:

(a) fulfill the obligation to cite the methods and tools used in the development of the assignment, which now includes any use of artificial intelligence, including how it was used;

(b) cite the use of artificial intelligence in both the textual and visual parts of the assignment being developed.

The final, submitted form of each assignment must be the result of the student's work, and the role of the AI must be limited to the tool. In no case, therefore, can the final work be primarily or exclusively the result of the application of AI, and this will be taken into account in the assessment: if the work, or a key part of it, is the uncorrected, uncritically used and unprocessed result of the application of AI, it will be judged as unworthy and untrustworthy material and learning and study output.

In general, it is essential to ensure that the development of the implementation and use of AI models is guided by ethical principles in order to maximise their potential benefits while minimising their potential harms.

AMU will monitor further developments and potential provisions from the MoE and NAU on this matter and we will inform you promptly or update the appropriate regulations accordingly.
