OPEN CALL: THEATER NIGHT PROJECT

Dear students,

Like every year, the DISK Theater Studio and DAMU are taking part in the international Theater Night project. And because the Theater Night program always consists of creative and other contributions from DAMU and AMU students, we are once again announcing an open call. This year's 14^th edition, with the theme "Truth, Courage, Absurdity" – on the occasion of the 90^th anniversary of Václav Havel's birth – will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026. And you can be a part of it!

You can get inspired by the theme, but it is not a requirement. The program will take place at DAMU (Studio Řetízek, foyer, corridors, classrooms, DISK roof, DAMU library) and HAMU (Inspiration Theater, outdoor and indoor spaces at HAMU).

Who and what are we looking for?  

Student ensembles, individuals, groups, bands, films... Students from all fields and study programs at AMU are welcome to participate. The aim of the Theater Night program is to give the audience a glimpse behind the scenes of the creative process and let them into places that regular theatergoers don't get to see. Therefore, it is not necessary to present a complete work; on the contrary, it is possible to invite the audience into the creative process itself!

Staged readings of original texts, staged, improvised, musical, and pantomime projects, screenings, concerts, creative workshops, lectures, installations, open rehearsals, any (non-)theatrical form in a "work in progress" state.

We also welcome dramaturgically suitable projects for the afternoon program: fairy tales and workshops for the youngest, families with children, or teenagers.

Due to the new involvement of HAMU Inspirace this year, we are also looking for performative projects, living statues, jugglers, stilt walkers, lantern parades, audio walks, etc., which would accompany the audience on the route "from DAMU to HAMU and back."

As part of the program, there will also be traditional backstage tours of the DISK Theater for the public. These can be conceived as interactive experiences/performances according to individual ideas and focus. If you would like to participate in the tours, please also use the registration questionnaire.

What can we offer you?  

• Some DAMU spaces (depending on the number of registered projects and their production requirements),  

• costumes, props from the DISK storage,  

• participants can use the self-service technical equipment loan system PLATO.  

What will you get from participating in the Theatre Night?  

•  Experience, inter-faculty and interdisciplinary contacts,  

•  photo documentation of your project,  

• Promotion of your project on the DISK website and social networks, 

• new audience.
