DANIELA JOBERTOVÁ, THEATRE SCHOLAR, TRANSLATOR, TEACHER AND FORMER VICE-RECTOR OF THE ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS, IS BECOMING THE NEW DEAN OF DAMU

On Friday, 18 October 2024, the Academic Senate of DAMU sat down in the early evening to vote on the proposal for the dean of the Theatre Faculty of AMU for the next four years. Dramaturg and pedagogue and current dean of the DAMU Karel František Tománek, and the former head of the Department of Theory and Criticism, former Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of AMU, pedagogue Daniela Jobertová, applied for the position. The DAMU AS voted in three rounds, with Daniela Jobertová finally receiving a majority of 8 votes; the current Dean received 5 votes. Thus, the DAMU AS will propose to the AMU Rector Ingerborg Radok Žádná the designation of Daniela Jobertová as Dean of DAMU for the term 2025-2029. She is expected to take the dean's chair on 15 March 2025.

Daniela Jobert has completed several study stays in France, completing her doctoral studies at the University of Paris VIII - Saint-Denis. Since 2001, she has worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Theory and Criticism at DAMU; since 2002, she has also held the position of vice-dean at DAMU. She became Head of the Department of Theory and Criticism in 2008 and headed it until 2021. Since 2012, she has served first as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Quality Assurance; then, since 2017, as Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality Assurance. During her tenure as Vice-Rector, AMU was the first art college in the Czech Republic to receive institutional accreditation. Currently, Daniela Jobertová is a quality guarantor and also a member of the Academic Senate of AMU.

In addition, Daniela Jobertová has long taught courses on history, translation and critical practice at the Department of Theory and Criticism. She also teaches the Lifelong Learning series Foundations of Theatre Perception for secondary school teachers; lectures on research and publishing methods as part of her doctoral studies; and teaches a semester-long course on French Classicism at Masaryk University in Brno as a guest lecturer.

She is the author of numerous translations of mostly French plays and several book and journal studies on French theatre and drama.

In addition to her work at AMU, she is also Vice-Chair of the Council of Universities; Chair of the External Evaluation Committee of Masaryk University in Brno; and a member of the International Institutional Evaluation Committee of Griffith College, Ireland. In 2018-2024, she was also a member of the National Accreditation Office's committees for granting institutional accreditation to Czech universities and accreditation of study programmes taught at universities.

In 2005, she received the Order of the Academic Palms, rank of Knight, from the Ambassador of the French Republic for her long-term systematic promotion of French drama and theatre culture in the Czech Republic.
