This course surveys important acting theories since Stanislavski, with their accompanying techniques. The aim is to familiarize the student with various approaches to the art of acting, equipping them with exercises that illustrate the approach and a vocabulary for communicating with actors from different acting traditions. The acting gurus covered include Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Lecoq, Brecht, Grotowski, Brook, Method teachers Strasberg, Adler and Meisner, and Improvisation teachers Spolin and Johnstone.
Course is lead by Mary Carmen Angiolillo, PhD., american director and performer who lives in Prague for two decades. She regularly teaches at FAMU (film and TV faculty) International Acting Techniques and other courses, for 5 years she has been collaborating with DAMU.
