We are the youngest department at DAMU

The Department of Theory and Criticism was founded in 1996 in order to create a platform for the theoretical study of theatre directly at the faculty. The department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s courses as well as supervises doctoral degrees in the field of theory and practice of drama. All our work is based on the principle that theatre is not about a final product but about a process. Teaching is closely interconnected with practical work where students can explore aspects of this process by means of their own creative work.
