DAMU OPERATIONS DURING THE MAIN SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Faculty Operations:

  • The faculty is accessible only on working days from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for teachers and administrative staff, from 4:00 a.m. for cleaning staff, and from 6:00 a.m. for maintenance (an exception to these conditions applies to the Head of Technical Administration);

  • Students are allowed access to the academic office, PC classroom, and departmental secretariats only during designated opening hours (see below); access to classrooms and studios is allowed only in exceptional and justified cases upon agreement with the Faculty Secretary (and with a teacher in the case of creative work) and based on an approved permit for building access outside of operating hours;

  • Administration – working hours remain unchanged, office hours are limited to 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.;

  • Academic Office:

    • From July 1 to July 11, 2025 and August 15 to August 30, 2025, office hours are set for Monday–Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

    • A phone appointment is recommended before visiting in person.

    • The Academic Office will be closed from July 14 to August 15, 2025;

  • Computer Classroom – open on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any closure due to operational reasons will be announced by ordinance; the same applies to corridor PCs;

  • DAMU Library – Summer Opening Hours:

    • July and August 2025: Monday and Wednesday: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

    • September 2025: Monday to Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., closed on Fridays

    • Regular hours resume on October 1, 2025.

    • Outside library hours, you may use the bibliobox in the computer classroom to pick up ordered books or return borrowed ones.

Representation also entails acting as the authorizing officer for operations at cost center NS 200, position 1, during the stated periods.

Authorized representatives of the Faculty Secretary in his absence:

  • For urgent economic matters: Ms. Radka Fišerová (or Ms. Zdeňka Pekárková in her absence)

  • For urgent operational matters, including building access: Head of Technical Administration Mr. Antonín Loský (or Mr. Svatopluk Skála in his absence)

  • Dean’s Secretariat: coverage will be ensured throughout the summer holidays. Mail will be handled only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Monday, July 8 to Friday, August 23, 2025.

    • July 14–18: Amela Abadžić

    • August 11–15: Zdeňka Pekárková

  • DAMU Reception (Karlova) – schedule remains unchanged, 24/7 operation continues.

  • ds DISK – Due to the planned installation of electrical wiring and a new partition separating the DISK hallway and entrance to the dressing rooms, ds DISK operations will be limited. Working hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. according to the staff schedule on the faculty website.
    ds DISK staff will not always be present at the office in person from July 1 – August 16.
    Personal meetings must be arranged in advance by phone or email.
    From August 18, 2025, ds DISK follows the daily schedule (ferman).

  • Tržiště 20 Building – access from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    Hartig Palace reception (weekdays): 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; outside these hours, entry is possible with a permit issued by the bursar.

  • August 7, 2025 – there will be a full power outage in the building. The main DAMU building (Karlova 26, Prague 1) will be completely closed on this day, except for staff essential to the situation.
    The outage is scheduled by the electricity supplier PRE, who will be carrying out network maintenance.

  • Commercial rental of DAMU spaces will take place this summer from June 23 to July 31.
    The exact rooms used by tenants for acting rehearsals may vary depending on ongoing renovations in the building, but the primary locations will be the Large Dance Hall and selected acting classrooms in the Karlova building section.

  • Day camp for children of AMU employees will take place July 14–18, 2025.

Details of specific reconstructions, their locations, and related building protocols during summer 2025 will be clarified progressively depending on the outcome of public procurement processes.
In areas near construction zones, please exercise caution and stay fully alert throughout the entire period.

A detailed work schedule, which will be updated over the summer, will be provided to individual departments by the building’s technical administration.
