Study and Make Theatre in Prague

The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts (DAMU) is pleased to announce its fifth annual summer theatre school. Courses are in English and will take place at DAMU, located in the heart of Prague's historical center.

The Prague Summer Theatre School (PSTS) is rooted in the Czech Republic's long history of puppet and object theatre, innovative set design, and its unique contributions to small-forms and authorial theatre since the 1950s.

Choose a Comprehensive Three-Week Course, a Three-Day Intensive, or Both

Study theatre and delve into the Czech cultural scene in a three-week course, or immerse yourself in one-subject for a three-day intensive - or do both! The PSTS provides a range of options for those who come and stay awhile as well as for those who prefer a shorter, intensive experience. The PSTS offers courses in applied theatre, authorial performance, performing with masks, crafting and performing puppets, (Inter)acting with the Inner Partner, stage design, site-specific theatre and more. Need ideas on inspiring course combinations? Choose a Recommended Course Package.

Experience the Academy of Performing Arts in English

Courses are taught by current DAMU staff, alumni, or special guests - all professionals in the field. The PSTS is an excellent way for non-Czech speaking students to acquaint themselves with the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, especially for those who may be interested in applying to its Erasmus programs and/or the M.A. programs in English. University students interested in obtaining credit for the coursework may do so. Access to the school's theatrical and technical facilities (theatre and rehearsal spaces, internet) is included.

A Complete Cultural Experience

As part of the program, you can attend performances, concerts, and exhibitions at local venues with DAMU staff. This will give you a vibrant view of how theatre and performance is made in Prague.
