The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague is a prestigious art school with a tradition of more than 70 years of education. Its graduates belong to the elite in their professions across all artistic fields. After a one-year pause the tradition of the summer educational programmes will be renewed in July 2016.
The Summer School 2017 provides theatre students and beginning practitioners with diverse, hands-on immersion in the basic principles and practices of dramatic and puppet theatre forms. It is an excellent way for non-Czech speaking students to acquaint themselves with DAMU, especially for those who may be interested in applying to its Erasmus program and/or the M. A. programs in English. University students interested in obtaining credit for the coursework may do so.
The Summer School can be also beneficial to professionals who are looking to diversity their practice. Access to the school’s theatrical and technical facilities (theatre and rehearsal spaces, internet) is included.

The educational programme of the Summer school 2017 will be held entirely in English. If you are not a native English speaker, you may be asked to prove your English proficiency. To participate in most courses, you need to have at least an intermediate or upper-intermediate level of English. If you are unsure about the level needed for your course, please contact us.
Minimum age of admissions: 18 years old by the June 12, 2017. There is no upper age limit.
